lee
ward has been in the antique business for the past
18 years. she owned homestead manor in pawhuska, oklahoma for 13 years and moved to
oklahoma city due
to marrying her husband todd ward. lee has a
daughter who lives and works in oklahoma city and
she frequents the store often.
lee was nominated as one of
the top 10 businesswomen in oklahoma for the year
2000, and was also nominated as woman of the year by
the journal record. while living in pawhuska (her
hometown) she served as president of the chamber of
commerce, vice president of the HELP workshop, vice
president of the heeko club, president of the kappa
alpha theta alumni of osage county, vice president
of the senior citizens board of directors, and was a
board member of the community foundation board. lee received numerous
business leadership awards while
having her business in osage county.
In september, 2006, lee
decided to move her store to oklahoma city and give
it a new name. her love of the english decor and of
visiting the notting hill area in London prompted
her to name her store notting hill. lee specializes
in the english style of furniture. barley twist
pieces, heavily carved dark wood hunt cabinets,
vintage riding boots, and items dealing with
foxhunting are always in the store. soon, all items
in the store, including lamps, candles, and all
accessories will be things made in the united
kingdom.
on another note, lee makes
sure that there is nothing in her store that she
wouldn’t have in her own home. ..that she says, is
what makes the difference. she says her favorite
thing is to have repeat customers…that tells her
that she is doing something right!
